It’s almost Halloween, so I thought it would be great to talk about role play and how it can be advantageous for your life. During this time, a lot of us like to get dressed up and play a character that we don’t play at any other time of the year and it’s always fun and amusing.
So why can’t we enjoy this type of role play sometimes?
For a moment, we can step outside of ourselves, embody another being, and enjoy the pleasure that comes with that role. It requires a kind of vulnerability to stay in the character and invoke your sexual pleasure through that character.
Now, not all of us are great actors, but you don’t need to be a great actor to get into the mindset of role-playing. Engaging in role play can enhance your love life in so many ways, so I thought I would name a few to help encourage you to explore something different in your life.
1. You can embrace your alter ego.
For those folks who have employed their alter ego when they sexually engage with folks, congrats! This is truly an accessible way to embrace the other side of you that you may not be comfortable with invoking with your lover, especially with a longtime lover.
2. You can try a new thing you’ve learned.
You know that new trick that you’ve been keeping your eye on and wondering when you were going to implement it? Now’s the time! What better way to discover a new way of pleasure through a new technique or trick!?
3. You get to stimulate your creative brain.
Not all of us can be amazingly witty and creative, but with the act of role play, it means that you get to create a character. And if you want to go deeper, you can even create a script and/or backstory to ensure that you have something to work from and don’t have to think intensely when you’re trying to play your character.
4. It will enhance your communication skills.
Because you are putting on a character, you have to be able to communicate in a way that is different from your everyday communication and that will help you to have some think-arounds on what may be happening in your daily life; especially if you struggle with communication.
5. It allows you to see things from a different perspective.
Embracing a role or seeing your lover in a new role can help you see a perspective that you normally don’t see and may even shift your brain on some things that happen in your everyday life.
So now’s the opportunity to start your journey with role-playing. You can even take it a step further by getting that first costume and implementing that into your sex life at your nearest Halloween store!
